So, how many people on this community use Twitter, or something like it?
I think that there is a reasonably sized population using Twitter on their cell phones, versus those who have tornado sirens/weather radios/scanners in their neighborhood all of the time...
Skywarn uses "ground truth" to report weather events, but what if there was a group of people that monitored the Skywarn spotters in each given area, and when things are spotted.... A.K.A. TwiWarn (Couldn't be called TwitWarn, because…

Recently it has come to my attention that some people were sending messages to others via their e-mail about responding to discussions here on the weatherfans site. the same for the facebook, my space, twitter and such. all it is, is just a phishing expedition of some people looking for information to cause problems with passwords and such. they e-mail you and then you respond to the link by clicking on it and it takes you to the page where it said they found you at. then all it takes is just a…

So yeah, I wanted to recap my day yesterday.
If you Googled my name to find this, READ the entire post, because I have something for you.
I woke up to some storms, but since I'm still in the process of moving, I didn't know that they were severe. I decided to grab some breakfast at McDonalds on Battlefield Rd., and go to Sears.
Once I was done at Sears, I went to my car, surprise surprise, the clouds looked strange. There was a small amount of debris in the air, and tornado sirens went off. I…

As i said i'm new to this site but not new to the KSPR weather chat. Some of you here have seen me on the KSPR weather chat. My typical behavior on the chat is to say random stuff when nobody answers anyone on the chat and when things get heated, i will do something to stop it, just not in violence. My favorite show is House. (if you don't know what it is, look House up on www.youtube.com)
I'll see you later.

I have brought this up from time to time while in the KSPR Weather Chatroom and I often get the same reaction..."The What?".
It is an idea I came up with a few years ago after observing the oddball weather that comes through "The City With The Most Variable Weather", Springfield. I noticed that once in awhile we will be under a severe weather threat (Storms/Tornadoes), and just as the storms appear to be heading right into town, they dissipate, only to reorganize once they move out of the city.…

The ingredients still look favorable for a decent shot at severe weather this evening. Depending on moisture quality will determine the severity of these storms. As of right now the dew points are only in the low 30's, thats a very dry airmass that is currently in place, however by late this evening into the early night time hours at least some moisture should advect North from the Gulf. The biggest question is still how much, here is a look at the 00z GFS on our moisture return.…

The ingredients appear to be falling into place to get a decent shot of severe weather tomorrow, my BIGGEST question is the return of moisture.... the models think that we could have at least some moisture return, but how much is the question. Here is the 12z GFS on moisture, see how limited the moisture return is.

Wow what a trip!
I learned so much at the National Storm Conference I fear my head will burst! Fascinating and extremely educational presentations. Steve and I learned a great deal about thermodynamics, and saw presentations by Dr. Charles Doswell III who wrote the spotter handbooks and Les Limon who was instrumental in the development and implementation of the doppler radar. Martin did a great job recruiting presenters this year. Amazing the whole day except for the food was free!
While in Te…
