- Never really thought of it that way but ok. That does seem true but what actually is happening meteorologists like to use points that everyone knows as a point of reference. It's not that storms don't go around Aurora it's that one hasn't happened yet! I have heard people say that there is a "Springfield Dome" because all the weather seems to go around us, but that is not always the case.
